Tiree Day 1, Record Numbers Of Amateurs

Day 1After a very busy registration that saw record numbers attending the 25th Tiree Wave Classic, sailors headed to Balevullin for the start of what promises to be an epic event.Conditions were fairly light and Head Judge Duncan Coombes called for the ladies to hit the waves just after 3pm. Whilst the wind never really kicked in the waves certainly did and the ladies battled hard to land our first result for the event. The results were:1st Debbie Kennedy2nd Sophia Gilje3rd Kariina Pirhonen4th Eilidh SutherlandCongratulations to Debbie but a special well done to Sophia and Eilidh who make their debut in the UK Championship at Tiree. The wind came and went giving plenty of time to practice but hard to run a full heat despite a good few attempts. Everyone was on the water and enjoying the waves either way and looking well set for a solid forecast ahead over the next few days!Check out the images in our daily gallery thanks to the Tiree Wave Classic Photographers, and the heat draws can be seen at www.britishwavesailingassociation.com
